We will leave Marrakech to discover the Merzouga desert. This trip will last 3 days, departing from Marrakech to Ait Ben Hadou, Ouarzazate, the Dades gorges, the Todra gorges and the sand dunes of Merzouga.
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou- Ouarzazate – The Rosas Valley and Dades Gorges
After breakfast at your place of stay in Marrakech, a very nice driver will meet you at 8 o’clock in the morning, in an air-conditioned vehicle to start a great trip of 3 days and 2 nights to discover the Merzouga desert.
A circuit is not likely to be forgotten! Just after leaving Marrakech, you will have the chance to admire the Atlas Mountains with its Tizi N’tichka pass at 2260 meters of altitude. We have several stops to take pictures.
Then we arrive at the kasbah of Aït Ben Hadou, an official guide will take you around and show you the life of the Berbers of the Atlas and the Saharawis who live in the kasbahs of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the oldest kasbahs in Morocco, which was a crossroads of the caravan routes between Ouarzazate and Marrakech.
Namely that the kasbah Aït Ben Haddou and the rest of these fortresses are architectural ensembles built of adobe and clay, crowned with towers that serve as defences, in what could be considered the equivalent of medieval castles. These kasbahs were once large Berber villages in southern Morocco, fortified and designed to defend the houses, crops and palm groves that grew along their canals. Several famous films were shot in Ait Ben Haddou such as ” The Mummy”, ”Gladiator”, ”Game of Thrones”…Etc.
After the visit of this magnificent Kasbah, return for lunch. We then continue our trip to the Dades gorges through Ouarzazate, Skoura and the Valley of Roses. The driver will take a second road to take you to see the Dades Gorge, and go to a place called ”monkey’s feet” an astonishing landscape of rocky mountains. We continue on the road, admiring the sunset that accompanies the majestic mountains. We then arrive at the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Merzouga
After a traditional breakfast, which never misses the Moroccan mint tea, we continue our 3 days tour by taking the road of the thousand Kasbahs, to reach after the Dades valley the village of Tineghir and its gorges then Tinjdad. where we will have lunch.
After lunch, we then take the road to our destination ”Merzouga” via Arfoud and Rissani. Just after your arrival in Merzouga, a superb surprise has been reserved for you: an hour’s ride on a camel. An unforgettable adventure with an impressive view of the dunes and a beautiful sunset.
Once you arrive at your tents (your luggage is already transported by the driver), you will receive welcome tea. You will be able to take a bath and rest, while waiting for dinner time, which will certainly remain engraved in your memory.
After a delicious dinner, you will have the opportunity to attend a traditional Berber music show while watching the stars and the crescent moon in the impressive Sahara desert.
You will spend the night in your camp in the middle of nature after an unforgettable dinner and berber music show.
Day 3: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Marrakech
After waking up in the morning to watch the sunrise over the dunes, return to the hotel after breakfast, shower, departure for the vast palm grove of Tafilalet via the town of Rissani. You will continue the road to Alnif, the oasis of Tazarine and Nkob.
You will continue the road to Ouarzazate through the sublime valley of the Draa; the Berber village of Agdz and the port of Ait Saoun (1660 meters above sea level) crossing the high atlas. You will arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon.
